Patriarchy socializes women to police other women who expose sexual assault. They silence you because you’re “making us look bad,”–us being the family, the community, etc. Patriarchy socializes women to police other women who expose sexual assault. They judge you for “allowing” it to happen to you. We who survive sexual violence and can expose it are not the ones who “make us look bad.” It is the men who sexually assaulted us who “make us look bad.” We who survive sexual violence and can expose it did not “allow” it to happen to us. It is patriarchy that enables and protects sexual predators and it is patriarchy that “allows” sexual violence to happen. Fuck the patriarchy and fuck its footsoldiers.
