How, with all those “you should” and “you must” was I supposed to figure out “I want” and “I desire”? I know how long it took me to wade through the muck of what I had been taught I should want to get to the muscle of what I desired. And I have grown to differentiate between desire and desirability. Power lies in the eye of she who desires and does not wait to be desired. I have strengthened those muscles of desire so that the power lies in me—to stop waiting to be chosen and to choose what and who I want.
