For women, there have always been two revolutions to undertake: one fought with men against regimes that oppress everyone; and a second against misogyny. As jubilant as we should be to see dictators toppled, and as thrilled as we are to see those countries stumble toward liberation and justice, however clumsily—what else to expect after so many years of oppression—I am painfully aware that although women may have been on the barricades beside men, they are in danger of losing the rights they have in post-revolutionary countries.
