One of the quickest and most efficient ways that patriarchy diminishes a woman is to accuse her of being “attention seeking,” or tainting her work by accusing her of doing it because “she just wants attention.” It is imperative to fight those spurious accusations. It is imperative to understand that attention is power. Demand attention. Seize attention. Command attention. Declare “I deserve attention. What I do is important and deserves attention.”
