In so many of the life narratives given or allowed to cisgender women, suffering equates strength. Those social scripts signal to us that we’ve “failed at womanhood” if we don’t plough through suffering. What is a “strong” woman? We must disentangle strength from suffering. We must point to ways of being strong that are not undergirded by female suffering. A woman can be strong without offering proof she has suffered.
We must also disentangle our mindsets from the suffering builds character ideologies… each is a damned lie
