FEMINIST GIANT is teaming up with The Strand Book Store in New York City to launch a feminist book club! The goal is to have monthly events—a combination of in-person and online—that will feature exciting and global feminist books.
Our third book club event will be a virtual one on September 13 with Egyptian poet, speaker, and author, Salma El-Wardany for a discussion of her debut novel These Impossible Things.
This event is FREE to attend and will be held on Zoom.
I’ve had the pleasure of being in conversation with Salma several times already and it is always vital and feminist. Just last month at the Bradford Literature Festival we were on a panel together about ways to destroy the patriarchy, I joined her last year on her BBC Radio show to talk about being childfree by choice, and in October 2020 I spoke with her for a BBC documentary about Egypt.
More information here on how to get tickets, buy Salma’s book, and donate to FEMINIST GIANT.

Dear FREE readers of FEMINIST GIANT: I wanted to give a gift subscription today and I'd really like to give it to a loyal reader who would love to support Mona Eltahawy and is currently not able to budget for the $80. Is that you?
Hi Mona, thank you so much for organizing this! I wanted to ask if there's an option to change the hour for future events, so people from the Middle East could join too.
Thanks again.
