Three young Black football players on the England side—Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka—were subjected to horrific racist abuse after they missed their penalties. The missed penalties were just another opportunity that racists took to attack and abuse Black players, reinforcing the false notion that football is a white man’s sport.
