Last night I went to my first drag show to watch my sister perform and support the LGBTQ+ community in my small conservative hometown. Towards the end of the night my sister and I got the crowd to shout "Fuck the patriarchy!" I have never shouted these words beyond the walls of my home and it felt wonderful. It was one small thing perhaps, but the chant and the night was a reminder that there is a vibrant, strong, passionate community of people here that will not cower beneath the weight of conservative hate.
My friend Alia Scheirman who’s queer, lives in NY, and her father was from Saudi Arabia, upon Roe being overturned and the patriarchal dumb fuckery that lead up to this said: I hope all of them are harmed. Physically, mentally, emotionally. I want them all wiped off the earth. I know it won't happen but it's a nice fantasy
